ACE Now Targets Sports Administrators

The award-winning Atlantic Coaching Excellence (ACE) Programme created by LNG producer Atlantic to train and certify primary school football and cricket coaches has entered a new phase that will target and develop sports administrators.

Administrative officials from the national primary school sporting leagues and the Trinidad and Tobago Triathlon Federation recently participated in the inaugural Atlantic Coaching Excellence (ACE) Seminar for Administrators, which exposed them to two (2) days of training on topics such as: Ethics in Sports; Governance; Strategic Planning; Event Management; Communications; Public Relations; Sports Marketing; and Financial Management and Budgeting. The seminar was conducted by a select team of professionals from the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) led by TTOC President Brian Lewis, and also from Lonsdale Saatchi & Saatchi and Atlantic.

Derek Daniel, Atlantic’s Manager Branding and Communications explained that the ACE programme had evolved specifically to meet the growing expectations from parents and athletes for excellence in all levels of sport –from the quality of coaching received by children, to the degree of professionalism brought to the planning and execution of sporting competitions.

“Atlantic has been a long standing sponsor of primary school cricket, football, track and field and more recently triathlon. We have been partnering with the relevant governing bodies to build a strong foundation for the next generation of athletes and sporting heroes,“ Daniel said. “This new phase of the Atlantic Coaching Excellence programme aims to build the capability of these volunteer administrators who tirelessly and diligently work to ensure the successful staging of the various leagues and the development of not only the young athletes but also the coaches who are impacted by the various sports.”

The Atlantic Coaching Excellence (ACE) programme was introduced in 2013 to enhance the technical skills of the hundreds of coaches in primary schools across the country. Under the programme, Atlantic helps to prepare the coaches to meet international standards in their respective disciplines by enlisting the guidance and expertise of Cricket Australia and the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA). To date, more than 600 primary school coaches have been certified.
