LNG producer Atlantic will transition to a new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1.
Incumbent CEO Dr. Philip Mshelbila will return to his parent company, Shell, after a successful 3-year term at Atlantic. Over the next two months, Dr. Mshelbila will oversee the transition to incoming CEO, Ronald Adams.
During his tenure, Dr. Mshelbila championed the development of Atlantic’s World Class Strategy, and its key strategic tenets of continuous improvement, digital strategy and cultural transformation. With his signature calm demeanour, Dr. Mshelbila smoothly navigated the company through turbulent times, including challenges with gas supply and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Mshelbila explained that his time at Atlantic was marked by inspiring interactions with employees who were committed about innovation and their contribution to the socio-economic development of Trinidad and Tobago. “I commend the resilience and the resourcefulness of the Atlantic team, and I’m very honored to have had the privilege to lead such talented, dedicated people,” Mshelbila said. “I wish Atlantic, and Trinidad and Tobago continued success as they ready themselves to excel in the new landscape for global energy.”
Incoming CEO Ronald Adams is a senior energy sector executive with nearly 30 years of experience across the Upstream, Midstream and Downstream sectors of the energy industry. Mr. Adams has held leadership positions in General Management, Operations, Engineering and Business Development in organizations in Trinidad and North America.
Mr. Adams has been with Shell Trinidad and Tobago Ltd since 2019, where most recently he was the General Manager Upstream Assets. He has also worked extensively in a variety of roles with petrochemical companies in the Pt. Lisas Industrial Estate including at NGC, another of Atlantic’s shareholder companies. At NGC, Mr. Adams served as Vice President Operations.
Mr. Adams holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from U.W.I., St Augustine and an MBA with a specialization in Strategic Planning from Herriot-Watt University (Edinburgh School of Business).
Atlantic thanks Dr. Mshelbila for his contribution to the achievements of the company and welcomes new CEO Mr. Adams as he assumes the helm in a new phase of the company’s journey from August 1, 2021.
